JJ stands for Jumping Jim, the name chosen by Joaquim, although she is a girl, because it's his letter of the alphabet. They're learning the alphabet through names: Annie Apple (his first choice, Paulo didn't like it), Bouncy Ben, Clever Cat etc. JJ is considerably easier for all of us, especially the Mozambicans, and avoids gender confusion. And no, not much of a guard dog, she's far too friendly and playful.
Getting on for ten years in Northern Mozambique, juggling work, two small boys, one small girl, building a house, a resort, running a home, two companies, and sufficient time on the beach to chill out a bit. It's tough in paradise.
